rel8r is THE search engine for human classified content. rel8r scours the Internet for content that has been tagged with the keywords you search for.

ummmm, you still didn't answer the question...

What is Tagging?

A good description from Daniel Terdiman: "Tagging" is a term used to describe human indexing of material on the Web, which in theory makes content more intuitively found and shared. Tagging systems are also known sometimes as "folksonomies"--a combination of "folk" and "taxonomy"--as well as "shared bookmarking."

Why did you make this?

rel8r is an experiment that uses many of the latest trends and technologies in web technology and development. Social networks, community sites, the semantic web, tagging, rss/atom feeds, object databases, ajax, web services, etc.

And more importantly, with rel8r, we might be able to answer these questions:

Is tagging relevant? If so, can it be made more relevant?
Can blog/feed spam be stopped?

How Do I Use This?

Put something of interest to you in the Show Me search at the top. Try the city or town you live in for example or go to the homepage and see what other people are searching for.

Sources of information can be added by entering a feed into the Add Source to Tag form. This source will then become part of that tag. This essentially tags a source.

Items can be marked as spam or junk which will make a difference in what sources get the most attention. Items can also be ranked which has an effect on what will show up where.

Can I Get My Stuff Listed on rel8r?

You sure can. If you have a public RSS/Atom feed for your site or blog, then you can add it as a Source to a particular tag(s) on rel8r. For example, if you have a car blog about focused on Audi's, then search for Audi on rel8r and on the right side of the page, you'll see a section called Add Source For Tag. In that section, there is a text form field where you can put in your feed URL and submit. That's it! All feed additions are moderated to ensure relevancy so it might take a few days to show up.
